The Together Foundation works with local communities, activity delivery partners and, of course, our Clubs to support and fund initiatives that create real and lasting change for underrepresented children.
Less than half of children in England are active enough. But not every child has the same opportunities to be active, with lifelong consequences for both their physical and mental health.
The David Lloyd Clubs Together Foundation focusses on primary school children aged 5–11, in underrepresented communities where we have Clubs.
Underrepresented children are those who belong to groups that have historically experienced barriers or marginalisation when it comes to access to different spaces such as higher education and the workplace.
These groups typically include children from ethnic minority or low-income backgrounds. It can also include children with disabilities or Special Educational Needs (SEN). And, in the world of sport, it can also include girls.
Behind every number is a child, a family and a community.
Through our partnerships, we’re helping children gain confidence in the water, discover a love of movement and build skills that last a lifetime.
This project gave us the opportunity to work with children who would otherwise miss out due to cost barriers.
This opportunity has played a vital role in helping children develop essential water safety skills.
Working within our small teacher-to-child ratios gives these children the attention they need and deserve.
